About holstercheck

I'm Luke McCoy. I've run USA Carry since 2007, and the question I get more than any other is some version of "will this holster fit my gun with this light?" The answer already exists, scattered across dozens of maker sites in variant dropdowns and compatibility tables. holstercheck pulls it into one place and keeps the receipts.

What counts as a fit

A fit here is a statement by the holster maker, on their own product page, naming your gun (and light, if you asked for one). I crawl those pages on a schedule, record every gun and light named, and match them against one taxonomy so "G19 Gen 5", "Glock 19 (Gen 5)" and "Glock 19 Gen5 MOS" end up where they belong. Each result shows the maker's text, a link to the page it came from, and the date I last saw it. A statement that disappears from the maker's site drops off here after 90 days.

Nothing is marked as a fit without that source. I don't guess from frame size, I don't infer from a sister model without saying so, and I don't let anyone pay to be listed.

The badges

Your reports

Under every holster there are two buttons: it fit, or it didn't. Counts show next to the maker's claim. One vote per holster per browser. I don't collect names or emails for this.

Makers

If you make holsters and your store runs on Shopify or WooCommerce, you're probably already in. If your product data lives somewhere I can't read, or something here is wrong, email [email protected] with the product URL and I'll fix it. I don't charge makers to be listed and I don't take listing requests that skip the source requirement.

Money

Some maker links are affiliate links. They never change which holsters show or in what order. Ordering is by fit grade, then maker name.

API

Every page is available as JSON at the same path with an /api prefix. No key, no rate limit beyond common sense, CORS enabled. Please cache for at least an hour; the data changes a few times a day at most.

GET /api/index
GET /api/holsters-for/glock-19-gen5
GET /api/holsters-for/glock-19-gen5/with/streamlight-tlr-7a
GET /api/holsters-for/glock-19-gen5/no-light
GET /api/makers/tenicor

Slugs are in /api/index. For AI assistants there is a llms.txt. If you build something on this, I'd like to hear about it.

Out of scope

Carry law, use of force and training are not covered here. Those questions get long answers that depend on where you live; USA Carry has them.
